Skin care is becoming more and more popular and becoming part of the daily lives of many people.
Maintaining the health of the skin is essential to prevent blemishes and the signs of premature aging, so the ideal is to start with prevention as soon as possible.
In addition, it is important to always consult a dermatologist to indicate your skin type and the steps you should take throughout the treatment.
However, if you are a beginner in skincare and want to start today, the Healthy Minute will help you to demystify the steps of skincare and set up a complete routine for you to take care of your skin.
No matter what your skin type is, performing the skincare steps correctly makes all the difference.
In the basic skincare routine, we have four steps that are essential in everyday life, that do not take a lot of time and are a lot of self-care.
The essential steps are:
Contents
Cleaning
The first step is always hygiene, a process in which excess microorganisms and sebum are removed.
For this, the ideal is to use a specific soap for your skin type, promoting deep cleaning, without attacking or drying out the skin.
Cleaning should preferably be done in the morning and at night to remove makeup residues, pollution and other dirt.
Toning
After cleansing, the tonic is ideal to promote hydration and pH regulation of the skin, collaborating in a deep cleansing and restoration of the health of the dermis.
Here it is also important to check your skin type, since there are moisturizing tonics indicated for normal to dry skin and astringent tonics, ideal for combination to oily skin, since they promote the control of the dermis oiliness.
Moisturizer
This step is one of the most important skin care routine. However, all skin types must use moisturizer at least twice a day.
For the driest, the most potent moisturizers and humectants are a great choice. For oily skin, moisturizers with matifying power are more recommended.
If you prefer, a gel or serum moisturizer can be used during the day, to avoid dermal oiliness, and a thicker one at night, to promote deep hydration, even in oily skin.
Sunscreen
Finally, the sunscreen. It is one of the most important steps in this care routine and should always be applied, even on cloudy or rainy days.
The ideal is to use sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 and broad spectrum to protect also from invisible lights, such as the computer screen and cell phone.
In addition, the product must be reapplied during the day to ensure constant protection of the dermis.
Can you do skincare every day?
Yea! The ideal is to perform these 4 steps every day in the morning and at night to maintain the health of the skin preserved. In addition, you can include other treatments and steps to ensure perfect skin.
However, there is no point in setting up an incredible skincare routine if you don’t use the right products.
Some cosmetics or dermocosmetics can unbalance the pH of the skin, causing adverse and unwanted reactions, such as increased oiliness, dryness, blackheads , pimples and peeling.
So, the ideal is to always look for the products indicated for your skin type and that will meet the needs of your dermis.
Finally, don’t forget that it is essential to adopt this habit every day, even when you are indoors, such as at home.
Skincare for every skin type
Understanding your skin type is the most important step in setting up the ideal skincare routine.
That each person has a skin type you certainly already knew. It is separated by sensitivity and phototypes. But did you know that they are also known by numbers?
Know them and find out the number of your skin when you come across products that specify it in this way.
Type 1 to 2 | Very dry to dry skin |
Type 2 to 3 | Dry to mixed |
Type 3 and 4 | Mixed to oily |
Type 4 | Oily |
Now it is easy to know what the products mean with the numbers. Do you know what yours is?
For this, we have prepared a small guide on how you can set up your routine correctly according to the most common skin types found in Brazil.
Dry and very dry skin
The stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, is composed of flat, dead cells that act as a barrier to protect the lower tissues from injury and infection.
This layer contains natural water-retaining substances, which keep the dermis hydrated.
When a lot of water evaporates from the surface, the skin dries out and dehydrates, losing its flexibility and becoming dry, brittle and scaly.
This problem increases with age and is aggravated by excessive washing, as hot water and soap can remove the layer of natural oil on the skin’s surface.
The standard treatment for all dry and flaky skin conditions is emollients, present in moisturizing lotions and creams.
They soften, soothe and moisturize, and must be applied frequently in order to obtain the necessary efficacy.
I set up a care ritual especially for this type of skin.

Oily skin
The skin becomes oily due to the increased production of sebum by the sebaceous glands, leaving it with a shiny appearance, sticky sensation, enlarged pores, blackheads and pimples.
Despite being more common in adolescence, greasiness on the skin can happen at any age and be caused by several factors, such as washing your face many times a day (rebound effect), using products not specific to this type of skin, hormonal factors, between others.
There are many precautions that must be taken. Some of them involve not washing the skin with hot water and always maintaining hydration with products developed especially for this purpose, such as those with gel texture and containing salicylic acid – which prevents the appearance of acne .

Also, this type of skin has a thinner thickness, with a greater tendency to flaking and the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines.
The ideal is to keep the balance, using products that hydrate the most dry areas in greater intensity and also remove the oil from the T zone.
