What are the symptoms after 39 weeks of gestation?
At the end of the 8th month of pregnancy , the woman may experience symptoms such as false contractions, heartburn, diarrhea and discomfort in the vagina. In addition to these signs, the pregnant woman may still have:
Colic
Colic, if it is not very strong, is normal and indicates that childbirth may be near. The pain can also appear after sexual or physical activities, and should disappear within 3 hours.
Pain (in the pelvis, in the back)
Pain in the pelvis can be contraction. This is characterized by intense pain in the lower abdomen, which can be assimilated to the pain of menstrual colic. If this pain lasts for around 1 minute, it can be considered a contraction.
Dilatation of the vagina canal can also bring pain and a burning sensation in several parts, such as the uterus, vagina and vulva.
Back pain is also normal during this final stage of pregnancy.
Discharge or mucous plug
It is not exactly a symptom, but it is a sign that childbirth may be near.
The mucous plug is a barrier between the vagina and the uterus. Many women expel the tampon a few days or even hours before delivery, so that the baby can have access to the vaginal canal.
Depending on the expulsion process, the plug may be mistaken for a discharge. Especially if the disposal is done in pieces.
However, this is not one of the symptoms of childbirth yet. The body can expel the mucous plug with a few months or weeks to go before the baby is born.

When does the belly get hard?
From the 7th month of gestation , the woman’s belly may become harder. This sensation is caused by contractions, which indicate that the woman’s body is preparing for labor. There are still false contractions, called Braxton Hicks, which aim to accustom the body to childbirth.
These contractions are irregular and last between 30 seconds and 1 minute. After these false contractions, it is normal for the belly to become stiff.
Natural and true contractions are regular. The pregnant woman should notice them and note the duration and frequencies with which they happen.
The woman went into labor if there is a 10-minute interval between contractions. In such cases, if the pregnant woman is no longer in the maternity ward, she must be taken urgently.
Can you have sex with 9 months pregnant?
If there is no medical contraindication, the pregnant woman may have sexual activities in the last days of pregnancy.
The only care is in relation to the positions, which must be comfortable.
The woman’s belly can be a little disruptive, but it is important that neither of them lean on or place their body weight on top of the belly.
The use of condoms is still necessary during pregnancy to avoid Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
Many women may also have their libido increased or reduced during this period. The pregnant woman’s sexual desire depends on hormones, anxiety about the baby’s arrival or even tiredness .
Some pregnant women may also experience swelling and cramping, which generally decreases their predisposition to sex.
Now pregnant women who are going through a risky pregnancy or have had complications in the past few weeks, should avoid sexual activities.
In case of doubt whether the woman can have sex or not, consult a gynecologist or obstetrician who accompanies the pregnancy.
