What is wart remedy?

Most common warts disappear spontaneously over time. However, for those that remain, there are medications that promote their disappearance or their gradual reduction.

Depending on the type, removal can only happen with surgery. It is essential to consult a doctor to indicate the correct treatment.

There are different ways to treat and eliminate them, as well as different types of drugs that can be prescribed, with different ways of action.

Cryotherapy, for example, consists of freezing the wart by applying liquid nitrogen. This is a very efficient method, usually removing it within a week.

Another common form of treatment is with salicylic acid , which is cheaper than cryotherapy. It usually takes a few weeks, but acts effectively on the wart. It can be found in liquid or gel.

Another substance used specifically for those that occur in the genital region is podophyllotoxin . It is a plant extract that has antimitotic properties (prevent the reproduction of cells at the site), and is found in ointments.

It is important to remember that the appropriate treatment for each type of wart must be indicated by a dermatologist.

Can you use medicine for wart on your face?

For warts in these places, a specific treatment must be indicated by the dermatologist.

Home remedy for wart

Some homemade methods can work to reduce or even disappear the warts.

In general, to reduce warts with home remedies, thinning methods are used, that is, removal of excess skin.

This can be achieved with the sanding process. Some actions can favor the reduction of excess skin and the death of cells to be sanded, such as:

Aspirin paste

Aspirin is one of the most popular domestic ways to treat warts. Due to the salicylic acid present in its composition, this product can help to thin out the wart.

It must be crushed and mixed with a small amount of water, until a paste is obtained. Then, you should apply this paste on the spot, cover it with a bandage and let it act overnight.

Occlusion with adhesive tape

Adhesive tape is a well-known home-made way to remove warts. This method is known as adhesive tape occlusion therapy, and studies have shown its effectiveness.

After cleaning and drying the skin, the tape should be applied on top of the wart. It must remain in place for at least six days, when it must be removed. After washing the area again, the wart should be sanded carefully to remove the remaining dead skin. After being exposed for 12 hours, the process must be repeated.

According to dermatologist Fabiane Mulinari Brenner, “there are some cases that only occlusion with adhesive tape improves the presentation of the virus, and the lesions partially involute”.
