Inflammation of the prostate or prostatitis

Inflammation of the prostate gland is a disease that affects the prostate gland and causes symptoms that also affect the sexual intercourse of men.

The prostate is responsible for producing a secretion called seminal fluid.

This pure liquid:

  • favors the movement of sperm to the egg;
  • nourishes the sperm on its way to the vagina and uterus;
  • neutralizes the acidity in the vaginal tract, otherwise the sperm would be destroyed before it reaches the egg for fertilization.

In other words, the prostate gland is important to increase the chance of fertilization.

Without them, survival of the ejaculated semen in the vaginal tract would be threatened and the possibility of fertilization reduced.

Causes of inflammation of the prostate

Men between the ages of 30 and 50 have a higher risk of prostatitis, but that doesn’t mean younger men can’t suffer from this problem. The cause of prostatitis is divided into two categories:

  1. bacterial infections,
  2. non-infectious causes.

Prostatitis caused by a bacterial infection can be divided into two types:

  1. acute bacterial prostatitis,
  2. chronic bacterial prostatitis.

Acute prostatitis is the most common form of prostatitis.
The bacterium that causes this infection often migrates from the intestine or rectal zone to the prostate.
There are some bacteria in the intestinal area that can sometimes multiply and spread to the prostate. This leads to inflammation of the prostate gland.
If bacterial prostatitis is not treated or bacteria remain in the prostate gland even after treatment, chronic bacterial prostatitis may develop.

Prostatodynia (pain of the prostate) and non-bacterial (abacterial) chronic prostatitis are two types of disease of the prostate that arise for reasons other than a bacterial infection.
However, doctors have not yet found an exact cause that causes these two types of prostatitis.
One of the triggering factors of abacterial prostatitis is activities such as working with heavy machinery, driving heavy trucks, etc., which expose the prostate to strong vibrations and thereby cause problems of prostatitis.
In addition, cycling can cause irritation to the prostate.

Symptoms of inflammation of the prostate

Symptoms of prostatitis depend on the reasons that caused the inflammation and prostate enlargement.
However, there are some symptoms that are common indicators for all types of prostatitis.
The most common symptom of prostatitis is severe pain in the pelvic area.
A person may feel pain in the penis and testicles.
Symptoms may worsen after intercourse.
The pain can also occur in the groin (inguinal) and abdomen, or the patient complains of back pain in the lumbar area.

Another symptom of prostatitis is pain or discomfort during urination (micturition).
Also, the interruption of micturition is a sign of the enlarged prostate.
In addition to micturition disorders, men may need to urinate more frequently and have the urge to urinate.
This is due to the increased pressure on the prostate gland due to the infection.
Men suffering from prostatitis may feel pain during ejaculation.
Impotence and erectile dysfunction are other symptoms seen in people with prostatodynia.
In certain cases, there is a significant loss of libido.

In addition to these symptoms, men also tend to suffer from high fever and chills in acute bacterial prostatitis.
This disease also causes nausea.

In some cases, prostatitis proceeds mildly or asymptomatically, that is, without symptoms.
Some patients have prostate pain without infection or other signs of prostatitis. These complaints mainly affect young people.
The blood tests can show elevated PSA levels (PSA stands for prostate-specific antigen), about 15 ng/ml.

How is prostatitis treated?

Antibiotics for inflammation
of the prostate

There are some recommended antibiotics for effective therapy. They are mainly used to relieve the symptoms of bacterial prostatitis (swelling and inflammation of the prostate). Some commonly used medications include:

  • Ciprofloxacin Teva
  • Tetracycline
  • Nitrofurantoin
  • Bactrim

The antibiotics mainly have gastric side effects, for example nausea and diarrhea.

In addition to medicines, there are also herbal remedies (such as Serenoa repens) that are considered as therapy. However, there are conflicting views about the effectiveness of these plants in treating the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Natural remedies for inflammation of the prostate

Lifestyle
change
Research has shown that in non-bacterial prostate inflammation, the origin lies primarily in the lifestyle of a person.
You should avoid cycling or use a saddle that offers a recess for the prostate.

Men who do heavy work or do a type of work that involves strong tremors on the area of the prostate are more prone to inflammation.
According to “Urology Specialists”, this is the case because urine can flow from the bladder back into the prostate when there is increased abdominal pressure.
The bacteria contained in the urine can cause inflammation in the prostate.
Heavy physical activity should therefore be avoided until the person feels better, especially if the person is involved in activities such as:

  • daily lifting of heavy objects,
  • continuous driving of heavy vehicles,
  • Operation of heavy machinery over a longer period of time.

Smoking damages the prostate, so you should stop smoking.

Turmeric
Turmeric is an ancient remedy for many diseases and disorders.
Their antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties:

  1. help fight any type of infection,
  2. relieve pain and swelling.

Turmeric is also rich in curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that eliminates free radicals harmful to the body and improves the immune system.
Every day, add a teaspoon of turmeric to legumes or potatoes.

Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds have a powerful healing effect. They are very effective in the treatment of prostatitis because they are able to inhibit the growth of the prostate.
They are rich in vital nutrients, such as zinc, which stimulates the immune system.
In addition, with their help it is possible to prevent nocturia, which is an interruption of sleep to urinate.
It is recommended to eat a spoonful of pumpkin seeds daily.

Diet and nutrition for prostatitis

The easiest way for a natural cure for prostatitis is to change your diet.
This is the least you can do to avoid pain.

Blueberry juice is very effective in reducing inflammation of the prostate.
It helps eliminate the bacteria that cause the infection and inflammation.

Another, very interesting means of reducing prostatitis is corn silk.
The silk extracted from the corn plant helps fight burning and pain caused by the inflammation.
It has diuretic and detoxifying properties that help fight any type of infection of the urinary tract and genitals.

It also reduces:

  1. inflammation,
  2. the need for frequent urination,
  3. the pain,
  4. the burning sensation during urination.

For preparation:

  1. Put the silk in the jar.
  2. Pour boiling water over it.
  3. Leave to infuse for about five to seven minutes.
  4. Then you can drain the silk and drink it as tea.

The taste can be unpleasant, so you can add a spoonful of honey and some lemon juice.

Fruits and vegetables
To fight infections, the body must focus all its energies on its defenses.
The consumption of heavy meals (with proteins and fats) has two main effects:

  1. A large amount of blood is diverted to the digestive system for a long time.
  2. Digestion is slow and fermentation and rot occur in the intestines.

This leads to the formation of toxins that enter the blood and favor the growth of saprophytic bacteria that feed on dead or decomposing organisms.

diet based on fruits and vegetables:

  1. reduces digestion times and the accumulation of toxins,
  2. contains many vitamins and minerals with antioxidant effect,
  3. supports the fight against infections.

Foods
to avoid
Red meat and pork, dairy products, fried foods, chili and desserts should be avoided.
Under no circumstances should you drink beer or other alcoholic beverages, as they can make the situation worse.
